Ministry
God has called
Cross Road to proclaim His gospel through music... to share the joy of our
salvation with believers and provide encouragement to those that are hurting... to let
people know that God can change lives completely and for all eternity.
People sometimes refer to us as Crossroad or Crossroads. However, the name does not just refer to the intersection of two roads, but to the name of the road that leads to the Cross of our Savior and eternal life. This is the road that Jeremiah 6:16 admonishes us to take when we Stand at the crossroads and look... ask where the good way is and walk in it. In other words, choose the road that leads to the cross... the CROSS ROAD.
The sounds of Cross Road have been heard in concert throughout the Western United States and also on several recording projects. We are thrilled to see how God is using and guiding us to bear witness to His saving grace. We serve in many different settings from full concerts to worship services, revival meetings, special church events and conventions. Whatever the setting, please know that we are sensitive to the reason we have been invited to share our music, and work closely with Pastors and Music Directors to ensure that the needs of the host church are met.
The Cross Road Quartet is a faith-based, part-time ministry, incorporated as The Cross Road Quartet, Inc., a California, 501c, non-profit organization. All funds received go directly toward the expenses of the ministry. Donations, outside of product purchases, are tax deductible. Though travel expenses and the cost of equipment and other materials can be considerable, there is no set fee to the host church. The quartet is funded solely by love offerings, the sale of Christian products and donations. When overnight travel is required, it is greatly appreciated when the host church can provide motel rooms to further offset expenses. Concert venues outside the church are based on an honorarium and/or percentage.
We
have been richly blessed by Gods call to minister through music and would
be honored to join with you in a great time of worship and praise.

Bob Oliver is a founder of the CROSS ROAD QUARTET and serves as Vice President . A seasoned veteran, Bob brings more than 25 years of Southern Gospel experience to the group. His rich tenor voice sets the tone for the groups vocal style. Bobs enthusiasm and love for gospel music are contagious to all those around him. Bob has sung with many Southern Gospel groups including the TONY BROTHERS and the BLACKWOOD SINGERS. He was one of the charter members of GOLD CITY. Bob met his wife, Ginger, when he was with Gold City. Despite the demands of a full time job and raising their granddaughter Brittany, Ginger occasionally finds time to travel with the quartet. She is the groups number one critic and a great source of encouragement. |

Jerry Roark is one of the finest bass singers on the West Coast and also the Treasurer of the CROSS ROAD QUARTET. A forty year veteran of Southern Gospel music, Jerry began singing with quartets when he moved to California in 1957. He has sung with many groups including the CLAIBORNE QUARTET, REGENTS, DIRECTION and the REFLECTIONS. Despite the recognition he has received, Jerrys greatest satifaction comes in seeing a lost soul find Jesus as Savior and Lord. Jerrys rich bass voice provides a solid foundation for the CROSS ROAD sound and his beautiful solo voice is featured in several of the groups favorite songs. In 1973, Jerry married Lorene. They have two children, Jeremy and Becky. Lorene, Jeremy and Becky come to many of the concerts and are enthusiastic supporters of Cross Road both in front and behind the scenes. |

Robert Hughes sings lead for the CROSS ROAD QUARTET. Robert was raised on a farm in Chehalis, Washington and grew up singing hymns along with the congregation in church. He learned vocal performance in high school and college and sang in several selective ensembles. In 1996 Robert married Dianne and served as tenor section lead/soloist for First Friends Church in Whittier, CA. Robert, Dianne and children Blake and Katrina moved to Diamond Bar in 2002 and joined the Evangelical Free Church - Jerry Roark's home church. Jerry recruited Robert after hearing him sing in the Praise and Worship team; the rest, as they say, is history! Robert's day job involves managing computer programmers for the North Orange County Community College District. He considers himself blessed to be able to share his love of music and his faith in God in the CROSS ROAD QUARTET ministry. |

Chuck Minear sings baritone for the CROSS ROAD QUARTET. Chuck grew up around gospel music. His father owns a recording studio and he spent many an evening listening as many men and women of God came through, recording their music. His mother also got him singing at an early age. Some of his earliest memories are watching the great singing being recorded for Evangelist Dr. Stephen Olford or in the studios of the Haven of Rest Quartet. Most of Chuck’s ministry has been solo over the years, although he did sing with the Regents Quartet for time. Chuck has spent the last few years as worship leader at the Whittier Church of God in Whittier, CA and sharing his love for the Gospel and music at venues all around California. Chuck is a teacher for Downey Unified School District and has taught and sung in Japan and Great Britain. Chuck is an avid traveler and photographer. |
